Over 140 tourism professionals and industry representatives from all corners of the state recently attended TACVB’s third annual education conference held in Nashville, where they enjoyed dynamic speakers and networking opportunities.

Coach Micheal Burt a/k/a “the maximum motivator” kicked off the event with a rousing challenge to attendees to tap into their passion to re-energize their career paths.  Audrey Williams presented a hands-on demonstration of how social networking enhances a community’s appeal.  Culinary tourism, agritourism, event management, mobile web applications, and research presentations were part of the learning experience.

Dr. Steve Morse, economist and leader of the Tourism Institute at the University of Tennessee, shared tips for preserving your tourism budget in slow economic times.  Tennessee Department of Tourist Development Commissioner Susan Whitaker wrapped up the conference by engaging and encouraging the tourism partners gathered for the Blizzard.

TACVB affiliate members and industry partners were on hand to demonstrate the latest in products and services, while Media Networks, Inc. hosted a lively reception for all attendees.

Conference evaluations confirmed the value of presenting quality, affordable education.  Excerpt examples:  “I went home with new ideas and new information to pursue for the good of the community.”  “Left me excited about my job!”

Thanks to Dave Jones for the photographs, and to Greg Pearson for maintaining the TACVB website.  Watch for information on the Blizzard IV in 2010!
